How we identify, review, and publish corrections to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our water filtration research.
FilterTested is committed to publishing accurate, research-backed information about water filtration systems and related technologies. We rely on manufacturer specifications, NSF/ANSI certifications, independent lab reports, and peer-reviewed research to inform our editorial analysis. Despite our rigorous process, errors can occur, and we are dedicated to correcting them promptly and transparently.
Core principle: Every material error — whether factual, numerical, or methodological — receives a visible correction note at the top of the affected page. We do not silently edit content.
If you believe you have found an error in our content, please contact us with the following details:

When we receive an error report, our editorial team follows this process:
We categorize corrections based on the nature of the error:
Incorrect statements about water contaminants, health standards, or regulatory requirements. These are corrected immediately once verified and noted with a correction statement.
Incorrect flow rates, filter capacities, dimensions, or compatibility claims. We verify these against the manufacturer's official documentation and NSF/ANSI certification listings before publishing corrections.
Errors in how we describe our research process, rating criteria, or comparison methodology. These corrections may affect how readers interpret our recommendations and always receive prominent correction notices.
Broken links, misattributed quotes, or incorrect references. These are corrected and, where possible, the original source is restored or replaced with an equivalent authoritative source.
All material corrections are published as a visible correction note at the top of the affected page. Each correction note includes:
Example correction format:
Correction (July 15, 2026): An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated the NSF 53 standard removes 99.9% of lead. The correct certified reduction claim is 99% minimum. We regret the error.
