Our Commitment to Accuracy
Accuracy is the foundation of trust. Every article on Filter Tested is researched, written, and fact-checked before publication. Despite this process, errors can occur. When they do, we correct them promptly and transparently. We do not silently edit content; all material corrections are documented.
How to Report an Error
If you believe you have found an error in our content, please contact us via our contact page. Include the following information:
- The article URL where the error appears
- The specific claim, number, or statement that is incorrect
- The correct information, if known

We review all error reports within 2 business days.
Correction Process
When an error is reported, we follow a four-step process:
- Verify: We check the reported error against our original sources and, if necessary, contact the manufacturer or certifying body for clarification.
- Fix: Once verified, the error is corrected in the article within 48 hours.
- Document: The correction is added to the article's changelog with the date and a brief description of what was changed.
- Notify: If the error was material (affected a product score, rating, or recommendation), we add a visible correction notice at the top of the article for 30 days.
Types of Corrections
We distinguish between two types of corrections:
- Material Corrections: Changes that affect a product's score, rating tier, or our recommendation. Examples: incorrect contaminant removal percentage, wrong price used in value calculation, expired certification listed as active. These trigger a visible correction notice.
- Minor Corrections: Typographical errors, broken links, formatting issues, or clarifications that do not change the article's conclusions. These are documented in the changelog without a visible notice.
